What is: 4chan

4chan is a social media tool used to share and comment on photos using a bulletin board style layout. Born in 2003 from the bedroom of a 15-year old student in NYC, the website’s intent was to discuss Japanese comics and television shows. Tonnes of internet memes (images of catchphrases to travel fast, viral) have originated from 4chan, and content travels very fast. The most notable are lolcats, rickrolling and Chocolate Rain. Unlike traditional forums, 4chan does not have a registration system, which means that users can post images and comments anonymously. Any nickname can be chosen with each post. … Continue »

The Ladies are Loving Social Media

It is a well-known and generally accepted fact that women speak more than men. I know most of the conversations I have with my boyfriend involve me doing the majority of the talking, while he is left to interject with quiet noises of assent and the occasional short sentence. It is as if we women are programmed to be social. We love to converse, to express how we feel, to hear how our friends and family are, what they are planning to wear to the Melbourne Cup, what they had for dinner last night and will be having for lunch … Continue »

So the Age have pricked up their ears and in a spirit of forward thinking and moving with the times have offered its readers an m-book. Written by Marieke Hardy, a Triple-J … Continue »

Address Not Found: Firefox can't find the server at .com.au

You may have noticed that we here at b2c seem to rather like social media. It seems we’re rather permanently plugged in, in one way or another. For instance, three out of five of our main crew have iPhones. Personally, although I have internet access at, uni and work where I spend some sixty hours a week, and a home where I spend the rest of my time, I also have a prepaid mobile modem for those rare times in-between where I seemingly must be online. But how good is this access? Well to be blunt, its closer to Kenya’s … Continue »
