What is: 4chan
4chan is a social media tool used to share and comment on photos using a bulletin board style layout. Born in 2003 from the bedroom of a 15-year old student in NYC, the website’s intent was to discuss Japanese comics and television shows. Tonnes of internet memes (images of catchphrases to travel fast, viral) have originated from 4chan, and content travels very fast. The most notable are lolcats, rickrolling and Chocolate Rain.
