Marketing with Facebook

A bad week for celebrity deaths continues to get worse, as Mashable reports that Britney Spears is in fact still alive. Earlier today her twitter was hacked, and the following posted to her more than 2 million twitter followers: Britney has passed today. It is a sad day for everyone. More news to come. Putting a Name to the Face: Facebook Usernames
One of Facebook’s latest additions, usernames, allows individuals to personalize their Facebook URL. These have been available from midnight of June 13th. According to Facebook blog, a username will make it easier for friends and family to find you. It will heighten authenticity and create a trusted environment. Impersonation and Twitter
On Friday a twitter account claiming to be an official Today Tonight user was removed at the request of the misrepresented party. The satirical look at the current affairs Today Tonight by creating a fake Twitter account was only up for a few days, posting pretend news updates from the show which included tweets such as; “Swine Ebola: the sleeping killer. China blocks social networks
On the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, Chinese officials have blocked the use of most social media sites. These include the likes of Twitter, Flickr, Bing as well as local sites fanfou.com, xiaonei.com and wordku.com. China has had a long history of online censorship, since the introduction of the Golden Shield Project in 1998. Allegedly when important events are on the horizon, the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, will order certain websites to ‘close for maintenance’ in order to control any negative remarks being published.
